Learning to Read Hebrew
I was a teacher for over 25 years, and a district level administrator for 12 before I retired.
Upon retirement, I moved to the desert and currently volunteer as a virtual docent for the Holocaust Museum LA. I am also involved with the Jewish Federation of the Desert in several events. I taught in the Desert Outreach Synagogue’s Beit Sefer

I currently have my own tutoring business, offering individualized Hebrew reading lessons on Zoom, tailored to your unique learning style. Hebrew is actually not a difficult language to learn. There are 22 consonants, and depending on the vowel appear below, above or to the left side of each consonant. Of course, as with any language, there are a few rules and exceptions, but we deal with that in different ways until you are successful.

Required Books
The children's workbook required for the class is Time to Read Hebrew Volume One for those just beginning. If test results indicate an intermediate level, then Volume Two will be required.
The adult's workbook is Learn Hebrew Today., Alef-Bet for Adults.
Both books may be purchased on Amazon or other booksellers.

For youth, it is usually to prepare for their B'nai Mitzvahs. Both youth and adults who were making the Aliyah's to Israel and needed to learn to read before they left. It was then much easier for them to learn Conversation Hebrew as they had the basics down.

Adults may be going through conversion, want a B'nai Mitzvah or want to participate in reading from the Siddur in Hebrew, and not utilizing transliteration. They too may want to make their Aliyah to Israel.
